Hello, my name is Bud Thurlow and I am running for Calgary city council for ward 10 and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself.
My family has a long and proud history in Calgary. In 1954, my grandmother Cora Clark, was named mother of the year in Calgary and my grandfather John Clark, was referred to as a "Pioneer Calgarian" by the Calgary Herald. Both of my parents were born in Calgary with my mother being born during the great depression in a tent on the banks of the Bow river in Inglewood in below zero weather. Her birth certificate reads place of birth as Colonel Walker Estates Calgary. I will post a few pictures to share with you, which gives me great pride.
I grew up mostly in Crescent Heights and Tuxedo area, and for the past 37 years have lived in and raised my family in Ward 10.
I am a journeyman millwright by trade, and have worked in the natural gas sector building natural gas compressors, successfully owned and operated three car washes in Calgary, and for the last 16 years have been the proud small business owner of ASAP Overhead Door. My company was chosen by The Three Best Rated as one of the top three garage door companies in Calgary for the past four years.
I believe that with my business experience and life experience I will be successful in working alongside city council, as a team, in order to find a solution to the cities hugely mismanaged budget. I care about our city and the people who live here and I promise to spare no effort to make sure your voices are heard.
My mother was born here at Colonel Walker Estates Calgary, presently the Inglewood bird sanctuary in 1930.
